Eagle Emergency information

This weekend in Kodiak, a large number of bald eagles got caught in a dump truck full of fish guts. A few drowned, thirty were saved. The survivors are touch-and-go, and are in the process of being shipped from Kodiak to Bird Treatment and Learning Center in Anchorage (thanks to ERA, Northern Air Cargo, and Alaska Airlines for kicking in some free transportatin!).

Now Bird TLC needs your help. They're a non-profit organization and they aren't very big, so this is taxing for them. They need help with paying for the utilities (for heating and power-washing this huge influx of birds) and other care, medical, etc.

They would also love to have your old, back-of-the-freezer salmon. Freezer-burned is fine, they'll discard anything that's too bad. They have a drop-box for after-hours donations.

Their website: www.birdtlc.net
Phone: 562-4850
Address: 6132 Nielsen Way, Anchorage, AK 99518
How to get there: find 68th and C St. (a signal on C Strret between Potter and 76th), go west on 68th, which curves into Nielsen. TLC is almost to the end on the left. There is a sign about wildlife rehabilitatin, and a Bird TLC sign. You may also hear the outdoor eagles screaming, like I did when I stopped by earlier today.

The picture is one I took of an eagle in Homer.
