Child pornographer sentenced to 12 years in federal prison
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) – An Alaska man who installed hidden video cameras in his home’s bathrooms and secretly recorded minors has been sentenced to 12 years in prison.
Federal prosecutors say 41-year-old Tyler Weis of Wasilla was sentenced Monday after his conviction on one count of receipt of child pornography.
Two counts of production of child pornography were dismissed as part of a plea agreement.
The case began in October 2016 when Alaska State Troopers investigating online file sharing downloaded child porn files from Weis’ computer.
A search followed. Troopers found child porn images on Weis’ computer and the hidden cameras used to secretly record minors.
U.S. District Court Judge Tim Burgess said images Weis downloaded “depicted serious, disturbing, heinous violations.” He said the hidden camera videos Weis produced were more troubling.
