JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) — Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy has appointed Clyde “Ed” Sniffen attorney general. It’s a role that Sniffen has held in an acting capacity following the resignation of Kevin Clarkson. Sniffen joined the state Department of Law in 2000 and says he thinks having an attorney general picked from the department’s ranks helps with morale. Sniffen defended as appropriate the state expressing support for a lawsuit that raised questions about the presidential election in four states lost by President Donald Trump. The lawsuit was rejected by the U.S. Supreme Court. Sniffen says the election is over and he doesn’t think anyone can question that President-elect Joe Biden was the winner. Sniffen’s appointment is subject to legislative approval.
