ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) – A federal grand jury has indicted seven people suspected of importing methamphetamine to Sitka.

Federal prosecutors say 32-year-old Christina Quintana and 22-year-old Andrea Avalos, both of Las Cruces, New Mexico, face charges of drug trafficking and possession of firearms as felons.

Five others face drug trafficking and firearms charges.

Prosecutors say the seven operated from May 2017 until April 3 and used violence to collect drug debts.

Prosecutors say Quintana and Avalos obtained drugs from California and New Mexico.

Prosecutors say Quintana on one occasion shot a person in both legs during a home invasion and another suspect attacked a person with a claw hammer.

The others indicted are 39-year-old Peter Krovina, 36-year-old Porter Treadway, 25-year-old Holly Chambers, 29-year-old Aaron Didrickson, all of Sitka, and 30-year-old Eric Morisky of Juneau.
