ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) – A police dog aided in the arrest of a burglary suspect at an Anchorage liquor store.

Police say the dog, Kenai, found 37-year-old Maggie Jackson-Fairbanks hiding behind a ventilation system.

She is charged with felony burglary and theft.

She is represented by the state public defender’s office, which routinely does not comment on pending cases and did immediately not respond to an email request for comment.

Police say Jackson-Fairbanks apparently entered the liquor store while it was open and waited for employees to leave at closing.

A store security alarm triggered early Sunday and police spotted an open loading bay garage door.

The dog found Jackson-Fairbanks in a second-floor ventilation room.

Police say she had gathered up more than $1,000 worth of liquor and placed bottles outside the business.
