Stray bullet wounds Anchorage girl in living room of home
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) – A 2-year-old girl was wounded when she was struck by a stray bullet fired from outside her home in Anchorage.
An Anchorage police spokesman on Tuesday mistakenly announced the girl had died but later corrected that statement.
The girl and other family members were in the living room of their home Monday afternoon when shots were fired between two moving vehicles.
One shot penetrated the home in the 700 block of east 11th Avenue and struck the girl. She was taken to a hospital.
Anchorage police announced Tuesday they found one of the vehicles, a red Dodge pickup.
Police impounded the truck as evidence Monday night and questioned the driver. The driver was released.
Police are searching for the second vehicle.
