Get ready to feel triggered and attacked!!  Somebody who must not have gotten enough hugs as a kid put out a new list of the 25 most overrated movies of all time and it puts “Joker” as their #1. Joaquin Phoenix’s Oscar-winning performance, as delusional misfit Arthur Fleck, is an exercise in gaudy over-acting, and his character is situated in a story that’s neither interesting nor remotely fun.

“Shawshank Redemption” is #2 ..It has good performances (from Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman), and a strong, moving story. But not the best movie ever made.  WE BEG TO DIFFER.

“Up” is #3…the rest of this much-hyped animated film fails to live up to its pitch-perfect opening. HOW ARE YOU GOING TO HATE ON RUSSELL, KEVIN AND DUG!!!  WHAT?!?!?

Also on the list you’ll probably be upset about…Elf is #20 Stacked next to real bona fide Yuletide classics, Elf is a boorish and unwelcome imposter. GET OUT OF HERE WITH THAT.

#19 Top Gun was, in effect, little more than a two-hour advertisement for aviator sunglasses and sheepskin jackets. Nope. There was shirtless volleyball, “Great Balls of Fire”, “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling”, Berlin’s “Take My Breath Away” and “I feel the need…the need for speed!” ICONIC FOR LOTS OF REASONS SIRRRR.

#18 Fight Club… messaging was a little smug and obvious, and the story too dark and jaded. Who cares…because BRAD PITT WAS AT HIS HOTTEST.

#17 Good Will Hunting…  an incredibly OK drama that never quite warranted the hubbub that surrounded it. UM…WE LIKE THEM APPLES.

#14 The Notebook … as warm and fuzzy as Netflix’s disturbing thriller You. ARE YOU SERIOUS??!

See the list and their reasons why here.
