Recount set in Anchorage House race decided by 13 votes

JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) — A recount of a state House race lost by Anchorage Republican Rep. Lance Pruitt is scheduled for Friday. A spokesperson for the state Division of Elections says a group of voters requested the recount. State law allows a defeated candidate or 10 qualified voters who believe a mistake was made in the ballot count to request a recount. Results from last month’s general election were certified Monday and showed Pruitt had lost to Democrat Liz Snyder by 13 votes. Pruitt is the current House Minority leader. Snyder, who lost to Pruitt in 2018, said she expected a recount would be likely given how close this year’s election was.
