Vandal shatters windows in downtown Juneau buildings
JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) – A 25-year-old Juneau man has been charged with criminal mischief after vandalism that shattered glass at seven downtown buildings.
Juneau police say Monte Nix faces three felony counts and one misdemeanor count and that more charges are likely. Online court records to not list his attorney.
Police estimated damage at $8,000 to $12,000.
Police shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday received a report that windows had been broken with rocks.
Police confirmed damage at Red Dog Saloon, Northern Treasures, Taqueria restaurant, the downtown public library, Port Electronics, Marine View Apartments and E&M Oriental Store.
Municipality officials helped board up windows for owners who could not be immediately reached.
Police say alcohol appeared to be a factor in the case.
